Julia Reese – Secretary – Xplor Western Canada
Technology is constantly changing which, in turn, causes our world to change along with it. I’ve come to realize that the only thing that is constant and that can be relied upon in life is change. Another thing I’ve realized is that we all have a choice when it comes to change – we can move along with it or we can dig our heels in and fight it. When I see a change coming I know I will find a way to make it work for me and that, when given enough time, some things that seem negative end up being positive or, at the very least, not as negative as they seemed.
Change in our company is constant with new initiatives, new people, new software, new methodologies like LEAN and with new ways of doing business. Our e-forms team has recently moved from the Corporate Services division to the Corporate and Stakeholder Governance division – new people with a new mandate. We’ve gone from an operational support area to a dynamic team in charge of customer experience. We’re still tasked with providing the same service to the rest of the company (providing e-forms and setting the strategic direction for electronic forms for our company) and now we also have an opportunity to figure out where we can add value based on that new mandate.
What I realize is that it’s not going to happen overnight and that quality takes time. Do I feel like a fish out of water at times? Yup. Am I looking forward to the new opportunity? Absolutely!
