Dave Saunders – Vice President – Xplor Eastern Canada
I am really not the right person to write about Xplor and electronic document processing. It is not part of my day-to-day responsibilities. I would be much more comfortable writing about accounting or tax or the importance of selecting the right power of attorney and the ramifications of a bad selection.
However, the reason that I am involved in Xplor will be different than most and may be of interest to some. My initial contact with Xplor goes back about 20 years, when I attended my first Xplor conference in Los Angeles. It had a huge trade show and, at the time, we were looking to replace some mailing equipment and also looking for a colour laser printer. It was truly a smorgasbord of equipment and gave us a number of great ideas and some leads.
My second attendance at an Xplor conference was about 8 years ago in St. Petes Beach in Florida. The organization had changed. The conference was much smaller as was the trade show. However the educational components of the conference was much greater. A smaller conference meant more interaction. The educational seminar included not only electronic document processing but also general management and evolving technologies, something that was important to me.
I have returned every year since then. This year I took the next step and volunteered to be a director of the Central Canada chapter. I am looking forward to my 2-year term and helping to advance Xplor and provide the knowledge that our membership wants and needs (and hopefully have a little fun along the way).
